Kayúm Ma’ax

Kayúm Ma’ax was born in the Naha community, in the municipality of Ocosingo in Lacandón jungle. His paintings explore the relationship between man and nature, often embedded in the lush landscapes of the jungle.

In 1988 and 1990, Ma’ax exhibited his paintings in the Na Bolom Museum, in San Cristobal de las Casas. From there, he went on to the Centro Cultural de Siqueiros, in Mexico City, as well as the Ethnological Museum in Madrid Spain. He has also presented his work in itinerant expositions throughout the United States.
