“In Chiapas, the ancient inhabitants drew inspiration for their textile designs from the dream world, nature, and their ancestors. Through these inspirations, they created symbolic languages that became infused in their clothing. Currently, new trends are emerging where the market dictates what is created and reproduced. Reflecting on this, I decided to transform the spots of the jaguar into QR codes, a symbol representing the digitization phase of the local and global market that we are currently experiencing, and of which the indigenous world is not exempt.” – PH Joel
