“Inspired by the iconic image of one of Mexico’s endemic wild birds, the artwork symbolically illustrates the decline of identity through the figure of the “guajolote” (turkey), the bird domesticated in the homes of our indigenous brothers. In the background, a consuming flame approaches and seems inevitable; it is the clever encroachment on the essence of our people, a disruption of identity.” – Darwin Cruz
