POP-UP’S in Chiapas

Between March 28 and April 12, 2025, three activities were carried out in the communities of Peña Blanca, San Andrés Larráinzar; Inchinton, Chamula; and Nuevo Esquipulas Guayabal, in the municipality of Rayón. These activities were held in collaboration with the civil association ODA (Otros Dreams en Acción), as part of the POP-UP’S project.

In Nuevo Esquipulas Guayabal, the workshop “Masks and Fanzines: Migration Stories Told from Dignified Spaces” was held. Girls, boys, and adults participated. The group reflected on how migration has been experienced, both personally and within families. As a result of the workshop, each participant created a mask.

In Ichinton, Chamula, the workshop “Migration Stories and Fanzines” was held for the youth collective Stsebetik Bolom. Participants worked on individual collages and created a collective fanzine, in which everyone contributed to the cover, design, and narrative.

In the community of Peña Blanca, San Andrés Larráinzar, an afternoon reading session was organized with local children. They listened to stories, drew, and colored their own masks.
