Affirmation of M/Z Territories

For native peoples, territory is primarily geographical, but their territories are also defined in other registers: by their political community and their culture.

A basic mission of the native peoples is the defense of these territories. In this sense, Maya / zoque art becomes their cultural weapon, and the celebration and enjoyment contributes to a defense of the territory.

(There is a revindicative struggle of complex identities that criticizes antiquated ideas that the Maya are only from pre-Columbian times or that the communities are trapped in folklore).
